Research on Chinese Language Education in the New Era and Overseas Chinese Communities
Abstract
Chinese language education refers to the education of the national language and Chinese culture for overseas Chinese, especially Chinese-heritage youth. It constitutes an essential part of Chinese education overseas and is a critical area of applied Chinese language research. It represents not only the transmission of language but also the inheritance of Chinese culture and spirit. It serves as a bridge for mutual understanding along the "Belt and Road" and is a key project in building a community with a shared future for mankind. In the face of the "change on a scale unseen in a century" and the overall strategic landscape of "the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation," Chinese language education must shoulder the heavy responsibility of cultural dissemination. The overseas Chinese community is also the most familiar with traditional Chinese culture, acting as a bridge and tie for communication with the local society. To further enhance overseas united front work and better "unite the hearts of overseas Chinese, concentrate their strengths, and leverage their wisdom," there is an urgent need for us to familiarize ourselves with the laws governing overseas Chinese language education and identify effective paths for its development. This paper examines the development trajectory of Chinese language education from the perspective of the overseas Chinese community, aiming to more clearly reveal the laws governing overseas Chinese language education. It explores and summarizes laws to better promote the dissemination of the Chinese language, the inheritance of Chinese culture, and the development of Chinese communities. It provides reference suggestions for the two-way interaction and mutual enhancement of Chinese language education and the development of Chinese communities in the new era.
